Description



Political turmoil reigns in Russia after the death of the Tsar. Although nobleman Boris Godunov wants to refuse the crown, he inwardly craves power.

„Boris Godunov” is an opera about truth and lies in politics, lust for power and the burden of political responsibility.

Peter Konwitschny, „Director of the Year” in 2018, will be celebrating his Volksoper debut with this Russian „opera of the people” in its original 1869 version.
