Awesome performance!

Firstly the opera house is a beautiful building. This was my first opera and unfortunately I realised early on that they were not for me. I was surprised that Don Carlo was a mix of current and old style characters and settings. I was expecting something around the 15th or 16th century. The translation was very difficult to follow as there seemed to be many more words spoken than translated. We left at intermission, so hopefully the second half was better.

Die Akustik und Atmosphäre war sehr gut....schade, dass wir nur sehr eingeschränkte Sicht auf die Bühne hatten....dennoch: ein höchst erfreuliches Erlebnis.....würden wir jederzeit (bei Gelegenheit: sobald wir wieder in Wien sind) wiederholen......

I expected that when watching a Mozart opera, the costumes would reflect the era in which the piece was written, rather than featuring jeans and combat boots. I found this disappointing. The voices were good.

It was a very impressive version of Carmen with modern elements embedded (e.g. like cars on the stage). I would highly recommend it and I'm planning to take my daughters on the first occasion.

First time in an opera - what an amazing experience! I really liked the little screen at the seat so I could follow the story. The seats were a bit tight for a tall person, but the opera house was packed with people right up to the ceiling. The breaks were sufficient to get a bite from the very efficient catering service or explore other sections of the opera house. The performance was fantastic, the music from the orchestra and the opera singers, and everyone dressed at their best. Would love to experience another opera if possible in the future. This is a must do when visiting Vienna.

The singers were absolutely wonderful and very talented. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the modern adaptation of the opera. The contemporary costumes, setting, and especially the ending took away some of the charm of the original story for me. I personally prefer productions that preserve the original period and atmosphere.

It was an amazing Ballet experience. I went with my sister and we are ballet fans. What a beautiful show!
